Erin 11

Here is some info on the Newcastle earthquake
I got from my grand mother.
How did you feel when the earthquake struck??
I felt quite frightened but I didn't think it was an earthquake. I thought it was a train crash or the gas bottles exploded.
Was your house damaged, how bad??
My house wasn't damage to bad some of my vases fell off the walls.
Was there cracks in the road, how many buildings went down??
No. there wasn't many cracks in the road. All the buildings in the middle of the city went down and if you wanted to get in to the middle of the city you had to get a ticket and explain why you needed to get into town.
How many people were killed, and were you injured??
I was not injured at all, but I know that 13 people were killed.
How much money was spent on the whole town??
For the whole town it cost four billion dollars.
What time did the earthquake happen??
It happened around 10;28 the 28 of December 1989.

Here are some other stories she told me.
There was an old lady about 85 years old and she sat on three mattresses for three whole days because she thought there was going to be another earthquake.

Thank you for reading my interview.
Cheers Erin
