I would say that not many animals could tell that an earthquake is coming. Therefore, most of them are killed or injured like us. But I do know, that if a cyclone is coming, most ocean animals can tell. Most islands are saved from cyclones because the people see that the ocean animals prepare themselves for a cyclone.
I'd think that land animals like dogs or horses would know when an earthquake is coming, because they might hear it before humans, or feel the first small tremors in the ground before humans feel them.
