Tania 10

Hi Everyone,
How are you all??
Here is what I have learnt so far in this unit:
What Is a Richter scale? Scientists use a special machine to measure the shock waves during an earthquake. The shock waves are marked on the Richter scale to tell them the size of the earthquake.
An earthquake is when plates get stuck when the move along a fault. The plates keep pushing until one side breaks, then there is a jerk and violent shaking of the ground that can cause damage.
A tsunami is when an earthquake happens under water. The shock waves make the water move in big, strong waves. These waves slow down near the coast and form one huge wave. A tsunami can’t be stopped because scientists don’t know when they will happen so they are unable to warn people. Nearly ¾ of all tsunamis happen in the Pacific Ocean.
