

Builders have a saying: "Its not the earthquakes that kill you, its the buildings." (which is very true)
So builders want to make most buildings in earthquake prone areas earthquake proof. But it is sadly too expensive. The builders say that dams, large buildings, and public buildings should all be earthquake resistant.
Earthquake proof buildings are not destroyed in earthquakes (or small natural disasters) and will offer protection to anyone inside.
The Transamerica Pyramid (the top picture) in San Francisco earthquake proof. Its construction began in 1969 and finished in 1972.
Just imagine what some of the earthquake proof buildings in the future will look like.....
