Hi everyone,
I have found the Richter Scale and the Modified Mercalli Scale very interesting. I found that the Modified Mercalli scale was easier to understand and provided more information than just numbers. I think that scientists would look at the Richter scale then after they have found the description they then use the Mercalli Scale to get the effects of the earthquake.
